People and Their Patterns

Blame it on me being a little 'abi-normal', but I like noticing the patterns that people get into. Maybe I just like people watchin'. I will give an example of one that I notice every day up here in So. Lake Tahoe. Every dear day, close to where I work, there is a long bearded walker who is walking for who knows what reason. I think that's the part that makes it fascinating to me. I really feel like pulling over and asking him why he walks every day. It kind of reminds me of Forrest Gump running all the time. It really doesn't matter what the weathers like either, he is always walking in the morning. When there is two feet of snow on the sidewalk, he walks on the road, against traffic. You have to be some kinda determined to walk on the side of the road while watching a snow plow plowing right towards you. I've seen that Steven King movie, watching that plow coming towards me would make me pee my pants.

Perseverance - a virtue, implies persistence, endurance, hardiness, fortitude, stamina, robustness and tolerance. It is constant persistence in a course of action, purpose, or state, steadfast pursuit of an aim, tenacious assiduity or endeavor, continuance in a state of grace leading finally to a state of glory.

I've been struggling lately to read my bible everyday and actually spend time with God. I don't know why I'm struggling but I know it sucks. Seeing the ever so persistent walker makes me realize that I should be more like the beard man in my relationship with God. And I know that God WANTS me to be that way. When the sidewalk is filled with snow and I can't go that way, walk on the street. And when the plow is coming, no matter how much I want to stop, I need to remain persistent. No matter what is coming or what the weather is like in my own life, I have to spend time with God, because without a healthy relationship with God, life really does suck.

Lord help me make a pattern to spend time with you. Help me overcome the distractions and the lies that I don't have time so I can focus more on my relationship with you.
